Taking Care of You: Addressing Caregiver Burnout
When we are caring for others, we often have a hard time caring for ourselves. We all know the term: “…secure your oxygen mask first;” and yet for many of us, it still feels selfish and difficult to occasionally prioritize our own wellbeing. As a generation of parents who are concurrently caring for children and our own parents, we find ourselves feeling something called “compassion fatigue.” In this workshop, we learn more about what compassion fatigue means, and why we have such trouble taking care of ourselves. We learn guided relaxation exercises and identify areas of self-care we can begin practicing today.
