Mental Health Across Marginalized Communities
HEALTH TALK SESSION
Mental health is the result of internal and external social factors like race, gender, sexual orientation, and disability. Unsurprisingly, people from marginalized communities are more likely to develop mental health disorders. In this health talk session, participants will explore how underrepresented groups face unique challenges, from a lack of diverse care providers to consult to chronic discrimination. Participants who belong in these marginalized communities will walk away with actionable coping strategies, and participants outside of these communities will walk away with tools to reduce and prevent behavior that may be intentionally or unintentionally contributing to mental health disparities.
